Ok, so Wright Brothers and all aside. Is it really a good idea for the average Joe to affix some sort of wings to himself and jump off a high place? The way I see it we have a perfectly good ground to hold us up, and if I fall from there I only have 5 feet nine inches to fall. I like those odds better. Admittedly, I do fly in airplanes, but there’s something about the security of walls that takes your mind off the fact that you are somehow suspended miles above the earth without any wires or visible means of keeping this big heavy multi ton thing aloft. But at least our seats double as flotation devices in the event of a water landing, so there’s that. But what do we have in the event of a ground landing that is more akin to a water “landing”? If only they would make the whole plane as well as they make that little black box.
