The English language certainly can be a daunting thing to get a good grasp of. So many words can have different meanings, it is no wonder we have a tendency to get confused in this country. I mean, to harbor a grudge against somebody does not mean you are shipping dock a grudge against them. And then to make matters worse we switch up the meanings whenever we feel that it might suit a purpose better. What is the meaning of parking on a driveway and driving on a parkway? Why not just call a driveway a parkway and a parkway a driveway? See? No more confusion. I have a lot of respect for anybody who has to learn this as a second language, I know a lot of people who were born here and still struggle with the semantics of it.
