…A Little Help Here…

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

You know, I can’t help but wonder; if exercise is so good for you, why do you have to check with your doctor first? Seems to me like there is an element of risk that someone is not telling us about. I think we have to check with a doctor so the insurance companies have a witness that it was indeed a premeditated exercise, and they won’t have to pay us when we hurt ourselves. I can just see the court case now:

Lawyer: Your doctor says that you came to see him before the incident.
You: Yes I did.
Lawyer: So you admit that you intended to exercise!
You: Well, that’s not…
Lawyer: Just answer the question, did you intend to exercise? Yes or No?
You: Yes, but…
Courtroom breaks out into pandemonium…
Judge furiously pounds his gavel while hollering “Order in the court! Order in the Court!!”
Lawyer: I rest my case your honor.

Ok, so maybe that’s a little over the top, a little, but you get the idea. I just read not too long ago about a guy who was exercising at a gym when a cable snapped, and his legs were open. Let’s just say that by the end of the story he wasn’t walking right for a very long time.

I just kid around though, I think exercise is a great thing. I can sit and watch it for hours. Being healthy is a good ideal, and I work at it myself a lot. Just be careful of the equipment, you never know when it may attack.
